The club will be celebrating its 150th anniversary in January. It has long history in southern non-leagues and were winners of the Athenian League in 1970, the year they reached the first round of the FA Cup for the first time, losing 6–1 at Reading. In 1974, they were the last winnerrs of the FA Amateur Cup at Wembley, beating Ilford 4–1. The Blues would be back at Wembley in 1981 to win the FA Trophy, beating Sutton United.
