Founder members of the Northern Premier League in 1968. Chorley spent two seasons in the Conference - briefly topping the table - before relegation and some decline down the divisions. But they were revived under Garry Flitcroft and since 2014 have been in the Conference North. Notable FA Cup successes were wins over Wolves in 1986 and Bury in 1990.. Follow the A66 cross-Pennine route towards Kendal and join the M6 South. At junction 8 (Mormon Temple) leave motorway and follow signs toward Chorley town centre along A6. At the two roundabouts by B&Q, head across the first then the right exit at the immediate next. Keep going through a number of roundabouts, pass Morrisons and then at the roundabout with the Eagle Hotel in view take the third exit and then left into Duke Street. Then 2nd second left into Ashby Street and the ground is on the right. Parking: Limited parking available at Victory Park ground (£3); the club also uses the neighbouring primary school, both reached via Ashby Street. Trains from Manchester (usually via Bolton) can take and hour and 10 minutes (£9 return). The last train for a midweek game is 22.55. Chorley railway and bus stations are on the A6 near the town centre, half a mile from the ground. Follow the signs for Bolton (A6) and pass between Morrison's and the Ford garage. You will then arrive at the final roundabout, head down the third exit, then immediate first left into Duke Street and second left into Ashby Street. The ground is then on the right. Chorley is a market town eight miles north of Wigan, built on the cotton trade. There is a fair bit of shopping in the town centre. There's also a local CAMRA real ale trail in the town. The Crown, 46-48 Chapel Street, Chorley, PR7 1BW Re-opened real ale pub with five beers to choose from. Near the railway station. Open 11am. Potters Arms, 42 Brooke Street, Chorley PR7 3BY Real ale pub alongside the railway bridge which is a shortish walk to the ground. Usually about three beers on and friendly locals. A former CAMRA branch pub of the year. Shepherds Hall Ale House, 67 Chapel Street, Chorley PR7 1BS. Micropub in a converted shop and showcases microbrews - usually five. Another very close to the station. Bootleggers, 21 Bolton Street Chorley PR7 3AA A recently opened micropub in a former lingerie shop, promising four handpumps - a split-level pub with the bar upstairs. Ale Station, 60 Chapel Street Chorley PR7 1BS Another micropub in an old sandwich bar close to the station. Promising nine real ales. Open from 1pm, so perhaps one for after the game. Ben’s Tap and Bottle Shop 2 Market Place Chorley PR7 1DA Newly-opened craft bar and brewery in the market place. Bob Inn, 24 Market Place Chorley PR7 1DA Another micropub at Chorley's indoor market. And it really is a "micro" - 11ft by 9ft but with room to stretch out in the market around it. Nice pies, CAMRA discount and a friendly welcome. White Bull, 135 Market Street Should have three real ales on, good service. The Railway, 20 Steeley Lane, Chorley, PR6 0RD Right next to the station, up to five Marston's and other beers.
