History: Founded in 1894 and named after a pub on the banks of the River Mersey, north of Liverpool. Marine have been at their Rossett Park stadium since 1903. Early successes in local leagues culminated in a FA Amateur Cup final appearence in the early 1930s. In 1972, Roly Howard started a 33-year record-breaking stint as manager - which was trophy laden, in the Cheshire and Northern Premier leagues. Further success followed later under Alvin McDonald. The year 2019 saw Marine were relegated to the NPL Division One North West, the first relegation in their history and after 40 consecutive seasons in the Northern Premier League. The Quakers won 1-0 here back in 2016 and then threw away a 2-0 lead to lose later when the teams were drawn in the FA Trophy. In 2021, Marine faced Spurs in the third round of the FA Cup and lost 5-0 but managed to sell 32,000 "virtual" tickets to bring in much-needed revenue, despite Covid lockdown restrictions. After winning promotion back to the Northern Premier in the play-offs, a second promotion saw them reach the Conference North after another play-off win in 2023-24 and the club has been building attendances and has plans for a 5,000-seater new ground.
