History: Formed in 1949 as Stockton Heath Albion, the club started out in the Mid Cheshire League and changed its name in 1961. The club's most famous player was Roger Hunt who went onto play for Liverpool and win a World Cup winner's medal with England in 1966. Town reached Wembley in 1987 but lost to local rivals St Helens in the FA Vase final. The late 1990s brought financial problems but the club in recent years has made progress with some ambition of promotion. Warrington lost in the 2021-22 play-offs but finished the 2022-23 season as runners up and were promoted to the National League North for the first time in club's history, beating Bamber Bridge 1-0 in the play off final. Darlington last played Warrington in the Evostik First Division North in 2013.

CAMRA-recommended for its choice of beers and the fact it is the brewery tap for 4 Ts Brewery. Just over half a mile from Bank Quay station.

Lower Angel, 27 Buttermarket Street WA1 2LY
The Tipsy Angel Brewery is located at the back and Tipsy Angel Mild and other ales from this micro brewery are usually on offer. Six real ales promised. Found on a pedestrianised street in the heart of the town centre - only 10 minutes walk from the station. Friendly pub, the beers were in good nick during our visit and very reasonably priced too.DAFTS recommended

The Looking Glass 41-43 Buttermarket Street
Wetherspoon's pub, a few doors down from the Lower Angel.
