History: There are claims the earliest club may have been founded way back in 1861 but the evidence points to around 1873. The club played in the local Sheffield leagues and first played in the FA Cup in 1908. Worksop won the Midland League for the first time in 1921 and also held successful FA Cup runs. The club re-formed after World War II and became a founder member of the Northern Premier in 1968 before briefly returning again to the Midland League. From 2000-2002, ex-England forward Chris Waddle played 60 games for the club. There were three seasons when Worksop were forced to groundshare after losing their ground and a drop down to the Northern Counties East. But for the last six years, Worksop have been making progress and gained promotion to the Conference North at the end of last season, finishing second to Macclesfield.
